Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc., has announced that it is to produce a limited edition 1994 bottling for its leading Islay Malt brand Laphroaig. To be bottled at cask strength, Laphroaig 1994 has been created to celebrate the 2006 Feis Ile - The Islay Festival of Malt and Music, whilst marking John Campbell’s recent appointment as Distillery Manager and his 12th year with this renowned distillery. Selected from a range of barrels laid down by John when he joined the distillery 12 years ago, Laphroaig 1994 is a vatting of three barrels by Laphroaig’s celebrated master blender Robert Hicks, who was recently honoured with a ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ by Whisky Magazine. Described as being full of traditional peat strength, zesty citrus and black chocolate; and a superb dram by Hicks, the 1994 limited edition will be available through Laphroaig’s web site (www.laphroaig.com) and at the distillery during this year’s festival, at £50.00 inclusive of V.A.T (70cl bottle). Taking place between the 27th May and 4th June the 2006 Feis Ile will once again attract thousands of visitors to the remote island of Islay. Along with a wide range of activities from the islands six other distilleries, Laphroaig will be opening up its doors to visitors with a programme of tastings and tours. John Campbell and Robert Hicks will be undertaking tutored tastings during the week and John has confirmed that he is to undertake the Laphroaig distillery’s Mystical Midnight Tour and Tasting on Wednesday 31st May. Full details of the Laphroaig 2006 Feis Ile programme are available at the Laphroaig web site. ~ENDS~ © Copyright 2003 by Jefferson Hunt Communication Consultants |
