Award winning Harveys celebrates triple success
Aug 10, 2005, 21:52

The three premium wines from the Harveys® portfolio, Harveys® Palo Cortado, Harveys® Fine Old Amontillado and Harveys® Rich Old Oloroso, were all awarded Gold Medals. Furthermore, all three wines won the coveted ‘Best in Class’ honour for their respective styles.

A silver medal for Harveys Pale Cream and a bronze medal for Harveys Amontillado added to the awards tally.

The IWSC committee has also nominated Harveys for ‘Best Spanish Producer’. The result of this category is announced later in the year.

Jo Smith, brand manager for Harveys comments: “We are absolutely delighted with Harveys success in this year’s Competition. To receive Gold Medals and ‘Best in Class’ honours for our three premium styles is a true testament to the skill and ability of our winemakers in Jerez.  These awards also underline the incredible value for money these wines represent retailing for less than £15.00 each in the UK.”

The Harveys wines had been available in the UK for a number of years but were relaunched with new packaging in November 2004 in response to a growing interest in higher quality wines and brands that could offer history, heritage and authenticity. They have been warmly received by consumers and critics alike, gaining listings in both the on and off trade.

“We know the wines are amazing, but recognition from the industry is fantastic,” concludes Smith, “these wines have added to the ongoing Harveys success story.”
