As part of the official celebrations to mark the 100th anniversary of the creation of the unique Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque bottle, top British fashion designer Maria Grachvogel has unveiled her own interpretation of the famous Emile Gallé design in the form of a stunning haute couture gown.
The exquisite dress was modelled by Supermodel Jodie Kidd to rapturous applause at the close of the Maria Grachvogel Paris Fashion Week Show at The Louvre, Paris, on Thursday 10th October. Worth over £30,000, the gown will be on display in Maria Grachvogel’s Sloane Street store in London later this year prior to its auction for the Elton John Aids Foundation.
Mark Wallace, Head of Marketing for Perrier-Jouët champagne at Allied Domecq Spirits & Wine Ltd (ADUK) explains, “As part of our official sponsorship of Maria Grachvogel’s Spring/ Summer 2003 Collection we were delighted when Maria suggested that she create a unique evening gown inspired by the elaborate anemone design of the Belle Époque champagne bottle. This stunning creation epitomises the fact that Maria’s designs perfectly complement the elegance, sensuality and sophistication of Perrier-Jouët champagne.”
Maria Grachvogel comments, “I am thrilled to be sponsored by Perrier-Jouët champagne, particularly for my first ever Paris show. As part of our association I wanted to create a fantastic gown that reflected the beauty of the Gallé bottle design, the decadence of the belle époque era and the luxury of Perrier-Jouët champagne. The dress is made of silk and metal thread and is encrusted with Swarovski crystals to resemble sparkling champagne.”
The belle époque period was a time for romance, contemporary artistic movements, decadence, peace and spontaneous celebration – a mood that is reflected in the centenary celebrations for the Belle Époque bottle design. To toast this prolific period, ADUK has created a programme of events, including the sponsorship of the Maria Grachvogel Spring/ Summer 2003 Collection, to support Perrier-Jouët champagne focused on design, beauty and intimacy.
