Taking Mumm Champagne’s involvement with sailing into a new dimension, Allied Domecq Spirits & Wine (UK) Ltd (ADUK) has announced that Mumm is to be the official champagne for the Arnold & Son Trans Atlantic Arctic Expedition 2003.
This World Record attempt to cross the North Atlantic in an ‘open’ rigid inflatable boat (RIB) is expected to raise thousands of pounds for the Prince’s Trust and will be the subject of a television documentary. Ex-SAS Expedition leader Bear Grylls – the youngest Briton ever to scale Mount Everest five years ago at the age of only 23 – will set off from Canada for London on 31st July 2003 with his five man crew. Traveling just south of the Artic Circle, their four-week voyage will take them through some of the bleakest and coldest waters on the planet. Scheduled to return on 6th September, the crew will be welcomed home to a celebratory party with Mumm Champagne at St Katharine’s Dock.
With a 25 year history of supporting high adrenaline yacht races and prestigious regattas across the world, Mumm Champagne has become synonymous with top sailing events – celebrating the sense of style, adventure and exhilaration that surrounds the sport. This extraordinary ocean expedition builds on that heritage whilst taking the spirit of Mumm to new heights!
Mark Wallace, Senior Brand Manager for Mumm Champagne at ADUK, comments, “We’re delighted to be able to support this amazing expedition, which has been billed as ‘the last great Ocean adventure’. Mumm is all about living life to the full, and Bear Grylls and his team of intrepid and charismatic explorers truly exemplify the values and spirit of the brand!”
